Barrio Parque

The 200m long site is located between railway tracks, next to the exclusive Barrio Parque neighborhood in Buenos Aires. The projects aims to redefine the idea of contemporary luxury residences, providing large outdoor terraces for all the units. The building massing follows a pattern that combines different apartment shapes and floor plates. This generates as a result a series private terraces that don´t interfere with the illumination and ventilation of the units above and below.
All units have views to both sides: living rooms and kitchens face the West, and look towards the houses of Barrio Parque and the buildings of Palermo Chico behind. All the bedrooms face the East with views towards the port and the river.

The curved streets of Barrio Parque lined with jacaranda trees are a beautiful example of the blend between landscape and urban design. In this spirit, the project deploys several landscaping strategies to promote the fusion of architecture and landscape. On the lower floors, the amenities and parking basement has holes and openings to allow light and sun to penetrate and to permit the growth of plants and trees. This generates a kind of 3d forest that starts in the basement and grows through the street and the lower levels. It reinterprets the neighborhood´s cultural landscape of trees that line all the streets of the area. On the taller floors, balconies and terraces have specially designed planters to incorporate vegetation on all the levels of the building.
